SUNSARI: Tribhuvan Army Club’s Nabin Shrestha and Nepal Police Club’s Bishnu Katuwal advanced to the men’s singles pre-quarters of the seventh Pushpa Lal Memorial National Badminton Tournament on Wednesday.
Shrestha beat Santosh Katuwal of Saptari 21-6, 21-5, while Katuwal saw off Nepal APF Club’s Nirajan Devkota 21-9, 21-15. Similarly, APF’s Gautam Kathayat, Bijit Thapa Magar and Sudeep Sedhai, NPC’s Jeevan Acharya and Purna Thapa as well as TAC’s Bikash Khadka and Prafull Maharjan advanced to the pre-quarters.
Also, Sunsari’s Pranish Singh Thakuri, Taplejung’s Man Kumar Limbu and Zest’s Sunil Joshi advanced to last 16.
In women’s singles, Zest’s Tara Ale and Dhankuta’s Aruna Tamang made it to pre-quarters.
